Fundraiser for Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Perry County Ohio

Organizers for the Perry County Sewcial Club here in Ohio, Megan McCord and Amista Baker, have been asked to complete a charity quilt for a fundraiser benefiting the local chapter of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

This quilt will be comprised of 1 block made by a contest winner and many other Tall Tales quilt blocks, a foundation paper pieced pattern designed and sold by Kate Basti. The fundraiser for this event will take place on September 24th, 2022 and the quilt must be finished prior to the fundraiser. Please keep reading for details.

How can you help?

The Tall Tales pattern is only $1.00 USD and we are asking anyone who is willing to help make a block or two, to purchase the pattern, make the blocks and send them in the mail to us on or before September 5th, 2022. There aren't many guidelines for making the block, but I have outline a few below.

  • Make a Tall Tales block and send to us in the mail.
  • Must postmark by September 1st, 2022. (see address below)
  • Block background must be low volume (white or off-white fabric with a minimal print on it)
  • Blocks must be made from high quality quilt shop fabric.
  • The books look best with cute fabrics on the "cover". Get creative and look through your stash. Have fun with it and make them colorful!

Not a quilter?? You can help by saving & sharing the pink image above on social media or the one at the bottom of this post.

Please checkout the block below made by Kate Basti herself for inspiration. You can also checkout her Instagram feed, @katebasti, for even more blocks made from this pattern.

Who benefits?

This quilt will be raffled off and all proceeds will benefit the Perry County Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Many of the children in our county, from ages 0 to 5, take advantage of the free monthly books from Dolly's nationwide program. We want to do everything we can to keep the program running and promote literacy in young children.

The Ludowici Community Foundation is hosting this fundraiser on September 24th, 2022.

Have questions?

Email with any questions and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

*Thank you to Kate who has given us permission to use an image of her block and to promote the pattern on social media for the purposes of this fundraiser.
